Essential Oil Conversions for Recipes

What does a 'toothpick' of essential oil mean?

Since some essential oils are very potent, it doesn't take much in comparison to the actual ingredient to flavor your food. As a general rule of thumb with these oils, start with a toothpick dipped in the oil then stir it into the mixture, adding more of the oil to taste as it is needed.

Remember, you can always add more in, but you can't take it out once it's in!

Not sure where to get food grade essential oils that are safe to eat?

It is true that not all essential oils are created equal, and some companies dilute their oils by adding fillers (a.k.a adulterants that may not be good for you) to their essential oils in the interest of saving themselves money. Do yourself a favor and spend a little more for your essential oils so you will actually reap all the benefits they have to offer.
